Please contact Jenny Allen with questions at ccgprograms@coloradocalligraphers.com. \nProgram Description\nTo visit the Klingspor Museum of Book and Letter Arts in Offenbach Germany is a calligrapher’s dream. The collection encompasses some of the finest lettering / calligraphy examples from around the world\, as well as hand-bound and hand-lettered books. I have been fortunate to visit many times and have never been disappointed. Many of the examples are the works of well-known men in the field\, but on my last trip\, along with my colleague Andrea Wunderlich\, we requested specifically to see work by female artists. These women\, mostly from the early 20th Century\, were successful in their own right but not as well-known\, which is often the case of women the arts. It is their work that I will showcase in my presentation\, from traditional and formal to experimental and ahead of its time.  \nAbout Louise\nLouise Grunewald is a visual artist working in the disciplines of drawing\, painting\, hand lettering\, printmaking\, and book design. She operates her studio\, Western Hands\, in Durango\, Colorado. The subject matter of her art and writing is largely inspired by time spent outdoors in the natural world and traveling to new environments with her sketchbook in hand. Louise’s work can be seen in many private and public collections in the United States and internationally. Special collections include the Portland Art Museum\, the New Mexico History Museum\, the University of Arizona\, Bowdoin College\, San Francisco Public Library\, and the Klingspor Museum of Book and Letter Arts in Offenbach Germany. \nwww.louisegrunewald.com
