Calls for Entry are opportunities for calligraphers to enter their work in both Guild and non-Guild art shows, juried exhibitions, and competitions. We will post calligraphy related calls for entry. As calligraphy is often a component of book and paper arts artwork, such calls may also be included.
Non-Guild calls are provided for information only, and we recommend that you confirm with the event or show organizer the current entry requirements, dates, and fees.

Guild Members Asked To Evoke Dawn In 2012 Regis Open Show
For what human ill does not dawn seem to be an
alleviation?
Thornton Wilder
Aurora to the Romans and “Rosy-fingered” Eos to
the Greeks, Dawn has figured prominently in mythology and religion in nearly
every region of the world. It is defined as the usually peaceable time between
twilight and the actual rising of the sun.
Describing Dawn and her flights across the sky was
a fanciful way for Greeks and Romans to explain the arrival each new day. Ever
since then, it has been an endless source of aphorisms for self-appointed
village proctors who want to shame sleepyheads into getting an earlier start on
the day. For the less zealous observer, taking in the Dawn is frequently offered
as a corrective for overwrought ways.
In Spring of 2012, Dawn will be the theme of the
28th Regis Open Show of the Colorado Calligraphy Guild. Exhibited at
Dayton Memorial Library at Regis University, the show will run from the Opening
on Thursday, April 5, through
closing Saturday morning, April 28. Set up is scheduled for Monday, April 2. Questions? Contact D.
J. Hamilton at dj.hmltn@gmail.com
Guild members are encouraged to start early, so to
speak, to prepare exhibition quality artwork featuring their personal
interpretation of Dawn and its effect on souls and lives. Depictions of the
day's rhythms, exhortations for idle ne'er-do-wells or prescriptions for
soothing the distracted and disordered will be accepted for ready to hang
pieces.
